For almost three hours atCinemaCon Wednesday night , Universal Studios and Focus Features just loose the Kraken If , by “ Kraken , ” we have in mind was “ film footage . ” Trailer after trailer , star after star , all touting the moving picture the studios have coming to theaters in the next year or so . There were around 20 film in total and though not all of them were sci - fi , a serious portion were , and here ’s what you need to know about them .
Nope
The presentation opened with Jordan Peele ’s Nope , a film we ’ve beenanxiously await for monthsdespite bonk almost nothing about it . Well , Peele arrive in Las Vegas and pronounce he was pass to show a clip that would reveal more than is out in the oecumenical world . Which he did . However , he also hoped everyone would keep it a secret . But we ’re gon na severalise you anyway .
essentially you have Daniel Kaluuya ’s character seeing [ REDACTED ] followed by [ REDACTED ] in the [ REDACTED ] . He then team up with his wife , played by Keke Palmer to [ REDACTED ] that he actually [ REDACTED ] . They team up up with [ REDACTED ] and then a whole lot of idle stuff happens like [ REDACTED ] on the windows and [ REDACTED ] in the sky . Then there ’s a braggart empty [ REDACTED ] and they think that [ REDACTED ] . It then ends with the self-aggrandizing reveal : a [ REDACTED ] .
Come on , did you think we were function to go against Jordan Peele ’s request ? Hell no ! Suffice to say , Nope look sort of like what you are thinking but with a very Jordan Peele touch you are n’t . That is , if what we look is even supposed to be bring in context . One never knows . Halloween Ends
Jamie Lee Curtis then register up to present what she called “ Laurie ’s last stand ” in the October 14 dismissal ofHalloween end . “ believe me , it ’s gon na fuck you up , ” she tell . The footage was mostly a look back at the account of the Halloween franchise , from the original movie as well as the 2018 sequel . But this meter , Chucky is Megan , an artificially sound toy program to protect a new girl . As you ’d ask , things start rather innocently but then we see Megan ca n’t be close off . She starts to get angry . And then angrier . And then very angry when a son tries to swagger her admirer . “ You should probably lean ” she order as she goes full ferine , running on all fours like a AI Panthera tigris mixed with a demon from The Grudge . The footage was ridiculous , amazing , and creepy as hell . It wo n’t be out until January 13 , 2023 but it look wonderful .
The Last Voyage of the Demeter
In Bram Stoker ’s novel , Dracula , there ’s a chapter call “ The Captain ’s Log . ” It ’s about a voyage at ocean where a mysterious brute ( Dracula , duh ) picks off an intact crew of a ship one by one . Well , this is an adaptation of that starring Corey Hawkins , Liam Cunningham , and David Dastmalchian . And it looks pretty nerveless . Pirates of the Caribbean meets Dracula , but during the evening and not as bombastic . There ’s voltage though and it ’s a fun conception . It ’s out January 27 , 2023 .
Violent Night
David Harbour is Santa Claus . That ’s a pretty great marketing point justly there . But , as you could tell from the claim , this is n’t your distinctive Christmas moving picture . From Tommy Wirkola , the director of Dead Snow , and the producers of Nobody and John Wick , this is a testicle out natural action film , with Santa as the center of attention . John Leguzamo plays a world who lead a syndicate hostage , on Christmas , just as Santa arrives at the house . But Santa is not having it . The footage showed him drop a sledgehammer , order billiard balls in a stocking and break people with it , and even some stabbing with ornaments . It reckon derisory and we are here for it . It ’s out December 2 .
Jurassic World Dominion
Just like last year , the presentment endedwith one of the biggest franchise in the world . After some give-and-take between Jeff Goldblum and Bryce Dallas Howard , the CinemaCon audience was read a stigma sizzle keel flux footage we ’ve seen before with Modern extensions and revelations . For example , we learn that Blue the raptorial bird has a babe ( which we know ) but that the baby is abduct and Owen ( Chris Pratt ) prognosticate Blue he ’ll get her back . Chase through the city which we ’ve seen , a dinosaur eats a human being whole who is sit a portable scooter . There ’s a alone shot of Ian waving a big stave of flak . After Owen and DeWanda Wise ’s character show down with an feathered dinosaur on the meth , that creature dives below the ice and starts swimming at them . And then , just like the other trailer , it end with the legacy and new casts uniting to fight what Dr. Grant ( Sam Neill ) bring up to as the largest demesne carnivore of all meter . Or something to that issue . We see it smash through some windows , almost morsel a girl in one-half and , most terrifyingly , get very close-fitting to eat on Dr. Sattler . Oh , and you’re able to watch it in good order here !
All in all , it was a very fun presentation fulfill with footage that put a few new films on our radars , while cement a few others .
