Ariana GrandeandPiers Morganhave buried the hatchet.
On Wednesday morning, the formerAmerica’s Got Talentjudge tweeted that he ran into the “7 Rings” singer in L.A. — and even took a selfie together.
“So… we bumped into each other in a LA restaurant, she joined me for ‘a chat’ & 2 hours later we were still chatting. We laughed, we argued, she cried, I nearly did, the drinks flowed & we bonded,” Morgan tweeted, sharing his photo with Grande. “Turns out we really like each other. Weird. Thank u @ArianaGrande – next?”
Grande provided more insight into the encounter when she replied to Morgan’s tweets.
“thank u for some laughs and some v productive conversation ! it was nice bumping into u !#FutureFeministPiers#FingersCrossed,” Grande wrote.
She added: “well………… we bumped into each other. at a restaurant. and i decided to sit with him and we spoke for a while. i think some progress was made! turns out face to face discussions are a bit kinder and gentler, even if you do indeed disagree. :)”
In late November, Morgan — who is known to have gotten into Twitter feuds — took to the social media platform to slamEllen DeGeneresfor ogling famous males on International Men’s Day, saying “The hypocrisy of modern feminism laid bare.” Then the next day, he bashed English girl group Little Mix, accusing them of stealing a photoshoot idea from theDixie Chicks.
Shortly afterward, Grande’s mother, Joan, called Morgan out for trolling DeGeneres and Little Mix. Morgan responded, writing, “as for Little Mix, I’d just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity. As your own daughter does…!”
Grande — anoutspoken feminist— memorably clapped back at Morgan in a searing string of tweets.
“I use my talent AND my sexuality all the time because i choose to. women can be sexual AND talented. naked and dignified. it’s OUR choice. … & we will keep fighting til people understand,” Grande tweeted at the time. “i say this w all due respect but thank u, next.”
Grande’s meet-up with Morgan comes after a successful — and history-making — week for the singer.
Grande’s fifth album, thank u, next, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. And three of Grande’s new singles topped the Hot 100 chart:“7 rings"at No. 1,“break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored"at No. 2 and thetitle trackat No. 3. The last time an artist simultaneously occupied the top three chart positions was when The Beatles did it in 1964.
