It ’s hard to reckon that some of the mostsumptuous animated moviesever made have yet to be converted and issue in the format , and yet , none of Studio Ghibli ’s exquisite back catalogue has made its manner to 4 K UHD quite yet , even as the pic enjoyregular re - releases in field of operations . That is , until now .

This break of the day GKids annunciate thatThe Boy and The Heronwill get a strong-arm release this June — including , in a first for Ghibli films , a 4 K UHD blu - beam of light . The film will also beavailable digitally day - and - date , with the 4 kB release usable on supported chopine .

apart from the movie itself , the home release will admit several young special features , including a full feature - duration visual storyboard of the film , and a series interviews with composer Joe Hisashi , Ghibli cobalt - founder Toshio Suzuki , and supervising animator Takeshi Honda — as well as the euphony video for the film ’s theme song , “ Spinning Globe . ” So no Miyazaki perceptiveness , alas — but still lots of interesting hooey either way !
