With the release ofpart two ofCobra Kaiseason six , only five episodes remain in the show . It ’s an incredibly distressing opinion if you ’ve beenwatching the show since the get-go . Thankfully , these five penultimate episode — now on Netflix — are a ton of merriment . They’reCobra Kaidoing whatCobra Kaidoes best , tell a merriment , character - driven story filled with action and adoration forThe Karate Kidfranchise . Here ’s our review of things we liked ( and did n’t wish ) in part two . Full freebooter below .
We loved: The Sekai Taikai
That ’s a jolly across-the-board generalisation since the integral season is at the Sekai Taikai but , specifically , we ’re talk about the event itself . All of the upshot are so coolheaded , almost as ifSquid Gamemet the Royal Rumble . The action is very well - choreographed too . Together , it does a rattling job of at the same time advance level and character while afford us exciting activity delivered in unexpected ways .
We loved: The new characters
Axel and Zara forever , veracious ? The raw badasses , as well as the emergence of Kwan as a legitimate trouble , really helped extend the scope of the season beyond the traditional rivalries . Lewis Tan as their evil sensai was sensational too .
We didn’t love: Kwan’s death
Ending the time of year by killing a main graphic symbol is a bluff choice , but why did it have to be Kwan ? We sleep with Kwan . He was so dynamical . So devilish . And , of course , that ’s why you kill him because he made us care . Damnit , though . Now we ’ll never get a Kwan movie subsequence .
We loved: The gang’s all here
Isolating these episodes into a single location with almost every main fibre really forced the show to spend more prison term with everyone . We love take care all the boys in one room . We love see to it Devon twine her eye as they kvetch . And , as things move on , the bonding that happen and the elevation of all their karate works in tandem with all of it .
We loved: The Terry Silver reveal
We here at io9are unembarrassed Terry Silver stans . So when he showed back up — in a hot tub no less — I literally jolly along . Sure , it ’s a morsel repetitious and a piddling moment of a cheat but , we do n’t care . So is Terry Silver himself ! We go for he has a act more of a role to bring in the final episodes too .
We didn’t love: Robbie and Tori
The idea of Tori and Robbie being captains on diametrical teams was ripe but the way it play out was symbolic of , maybe , the grownup trouble with these episodes . The two are soooooo histrionic . How many times did Robbie or Tori fuck up as a result of a slow - motion glimpse over at the other one ? It got to be a little much .
We loved: Miguel
To be fair , we always hump Miguel but these episodes really are some of his good showcases in a while . Xolo Maridueña is arguably the MVP with his cutthroat forcible performance and emotional scope , especially knowing he likely should be headwaiter , but he does the maitre d' thing by bolstering Robbie instead .
We loved: The Miyagi dream
This one is certain to be controversial and , we ’d imagine , many people would put this on their “ Did n’t love lean . ” But , yes , deepfake away ( which was approved by Pat Morita ’s house — more on that next week)—the estimate of visualise Daniel with Miyagi again was just so exciting . It really shook Daniel . Plus , recasting Miyagi ’s younger , more brutal reading was improbably cool . We still do n’t know the extent of this part of Miyagi ’s life but this shot was a fantastic tease .
We didn’t love: Pregnancy scare
It was bad enough kill a chief part so , thankfully , Cobra Kaididn’t also kill a baby . Still , Johnny and Miguel flying back to Los Angeles from Barcelona to make certain Carmen and the sister were safe was very uncanny . It happens so suddenly and is resolved so quickly that you ca n’t help oneself but question , what did this add up ? How expensive were these flights ? How forged was the jetlag ? Too many query for not enough final payment .
We loved: The cliffhanger
While kill Kwan was sure as shooting a bummer , the monumental competitiveness it happened during was not . We become to see basically every showdown that had been boiling over the path of the episode and then it stop on a huge dubiousness of “ What ’s next ? ” Clearly , Cobra Kai tragically lose its headwaiter which people all over the world see unfold on TV . How will that change things ? Who will gain the Seikai Taikai ? Where ? And will it even matter ? There ’s so much to think about .
We loved: Chozen romances
If Chozen only had the Kumiko rejection ( which we ’re sure was a misunderstanding ) it would have been majuscule . But to see he and Cobra Kai Sensai Kim develop a thing after everything that happened was screaming , romantic , and very important . Kim uses her ira at him to teach Tori and we get to see Chozen in a whole newfangled spark .
We didn’t love: Kidnapping
As much as we have a go at it seeing Terry Silver back , his program to set up and kidnap Daniel was refutable , to say the least . Sure , it let us explore a bit more of Barcelona — which was always welcome — but what was his ending game ? Was he snuff it to kill him ? Just let him lose the rest of the issue ? It was a number over the top , even byCobra Kaistandards .
