A bill aimed at protecting net disinterest in Colorado is on its way to being signed into law .
Colorado Governor Jared Polis is expected to sign Senate Bill 78 , theColorado Sunreported Friday , after it passed in the Colorado House this workweek . The bill wasintroducedearlier this year by land Democrats and would protect an open and equal cyberspace by holding ISPs accountable for money they receive from taxpayers for broadband expansion initiatives in the area .
The handbill would foreclose ISPs from throttling , establishing meshing “ riotous lanes , ” or lug otherwise legal mental object , inspection and repair , or apps . It would also require that ISPs be gauzy about their web practices , all of which are standard final neutrality protections . However , if providers were find to be lock in any of the aforementioned practices , they could be forced to repay whatever money they ’d received from the state for rural broadband first step .

A representative for Polis order Gizmodo in a statement by email that the regulator “ supports the bill . ”
“ This bill aver that if you ’re lead to inquire to be funded by the people in Colorado directly out of their paycheck then you need to adhere to these principles , ” Donovan said .
Last month , Democrats in Congressintroducedthe Save the Internet Act to reinstate Obama - era final neutrality protections for an open and equal internet . This week , the House Energy and Commerce Committeeadvancedthe account on a 30 - 22 vote , and it will next move to the House floor .
“ The overwhelming bulk of voters from across the political spectrum want Congress to do their jobs and doctor these basic protections that never should have been taken away in the first place , ” Evan Greer , deputy manager of digital rights protagonism mathematical group Fight for the Future , order in astatementthis calendar week .
“ The Save the Internet Act would do exactly that , and any lawgiver who does n’t desire to appeal the wrath of their component should vote for its clean passing on the House base , ” she added .
