It’s a dark day for social media.
On Wednesday, at around 12 p.m. ET Facebook and Instagram users reported issues while logging in and loading posts on their feed.
The outage not only affected people in the U.S. but also Central and South America Europe and Australia,according to Down Detector.
Angry usersexpressed their frustrationon Twitter writing, “There is some serious problem with Instagram. Suddenly it stopped working. Can’t send any messages. Got logged out. Can’t sign in. Trying to reset password. But it’s not working.”
“Yo Facebook & Instagram, you done with not working today? I have s–t to do,”another user tweeted.
“My @Instagram is NOT WORKING what do I do with my life now?”one person tweeted.
Even rapperSoulja Boyjoined the conversationtweeting, “Wtf is wrong with Instagram s— not working oh well time to make my own app.”
Facebook, who owns Instagram, later addressed the outage, without specifying what caused the platforms to crash.
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” Facebook tweeted.
“We’re focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.”
A representative for Facebook told PEOPLE they’re still working “to resolve the issue.”
At this time, Facebook and its family of apps are still down.
