Creepy clown around sightingsare no longer a trending word topic , but the craze is still arguably animated and well in Tonopah , Nevada . The former excavation town is home to a circus - inspire wayside motel , locate next to a100 - year - old burying ground — andas KLAS - television reports , the auberge is up for cut-rate sale .

Owner Bob Perchetti — who , not surprisingly , loves clowns — founded the Clown Motel around 20 years ago , after retire from his state tourism caper . The hotelier decorated the motel ’s function with more than600 clown figurine , bill poster , and toys , and he even hung movie of the comical public figure in the guest rooms , decently above the bottom .

Word of the far-out inn spread , and it before long became a famous wayside attractive feature . Those afraid of clowns dubbed it the shivery motel in the U.S. Some guestshave even reportedly claimedto have spotted clown - mould figures extend by their windows at night , or brood over their bed .

But after two decades of spooking road - trippers , Perchetti has adjudicate to retire from the work force for good . He plans to sell the motel for around $ 900,000 , and skip to bump a purchaser who will keep its goof heritage intact .

Perchetti says he ’ll miss the inn , and his many crimson - nosed companions . " Oh , I ’m going to omit the goofball , " Perchetti told KLAS - TV . " I ’m going to come back . I ’m going to come back and visit my clowns . "
