Whether she’s running errands orwalking a red carpet, Gemma Chan alwayslooks perfectly polished.Now, the actress, 40, tells PEOPLE that she has a fashion legend to thank for her timeless look.“I’m trying to follow thelate, great Dame Vivienne Westwood’s maxim: ‘Buy less, choose well, make it last,'” says Chan, who adds that she’s “on the lookout” for knee-high boots this winter.The actress — who won over fans with herportrayal of Astrid Leong inCrazy Rich Asians— is taking on a new role later this month inDiablo IV - Season of Bloodas vampire hunter Erys.“I think there’s something about the heightened world of dark fantasy combined with very real emotions that makes it compelling,” she says of the “legendary” game (Season of Bloodwill be available Oct. 17). “My character, Erys, is a seasoned vampire hunter who is a guide for the player during Season of Blood. What’s not to like about playing a vampire hunter?“While Chan has voiced characters in animated films previously, it was her first time taking part in a video game.Still, “this wasn’t a dissimilar experience,” she says. “I was given quite a detailed character description and looked at the character concept art. Then it was a case of imagining what this character has been through, the fact that she has suffered many losses and seen a lot of horrer in her lifetime which has made her somewhat jaded.“As for what characters she might be slipping into herself this Halloween? “We’ll see,” she teases. “I took last year off and had a bit too much fun dressing up the cat.”
