Just because Rey get wind Ahsoka Tano ’s voicemixed in with a bunch of idle Jediin Star Wars : The Rise of Skywalker , it does n’t necessarily mean she ’s dead . That ’s the deduction the character’sco - Lord Dave Filonigave io9 when we talk to him this workweek .

To retread , right before Rey vote down Palpatine in The Rise of Skywalker , she reaches out with the Force and hears the voices of several Jedi . She hears Anakin Skywalker , Obi - Wan Kenobi , Mace Windu , Luminara Unduli , Aayla Secura , Yoda , Adi Gallia , Kanan Jarrus , and Qui - Gon Jinn . All of whom are dead . Shealso hears Ahsoka Tano , a type who , as far as we make out , never became an real Jedi , and whose fate has yet to be give away in a Star Wars story . Many fans believed her inclusion body was proof that theformer prentice of Anakin Skywalkerwas now beat .

All of them , actually . All except Ahsoka . Thankfully , Filoni still has many more Ahsoka stories to evidence , the latest of which will unfold in Star Wars : The Clone Warswhen it returns on Disney+ starting this Friday . From there , eventually , most fans expect he ’ll bear on her story picking up after Star Wars Rebels as well , whereshe and Sabine Wren go off and search for Ezra Bridger . Filoni would n’t reassert that ’s happening ( “ Boy , would that be a scoop , huh ? ” he joked ) but he did talk about The Rise of Skywalker present moment in terms of “ what I ’m doing with the graphic symbol . ”

“ It does n’t really have any big logical implication to what I ’m doing with the character , to be honest , ” he tell of the moment in the film . “ I just thought it was a really fun thing . I thought J.J. [ Abrams ] ’s instinct to be so inclusive with all these various constituent of Star Wars and character [ was gravid ] . And I thought it would be a great affair for the role player involve to be a part of something that was just really this celebrate moment of the Star Wars saga . So I did n’t think of it in a real story [ way ] . The moving picture , to me , is like a unlike area . ”

Of course , Filoni did n’t say what it mean , but he did again suggest that he ’s doing more with the character .

“ It did n’t really impress what I ’m doing especially since I ’m before it , ” he said . Which could mean , hypothetically , Ahsoka and Sabine ’s history during the sequel trilogy , but more than in all probability mean Ahsoka ’s write up during The Clone Wars . “ So when we get to that breaker point [ after The Rise of Skywalker ] or if we ’d ever reach that point again , I do n’t screw . I ’m in this other timeline . I’m in a couple decently now . I just aboveboard love that multitude demand about the fictitious character . To take it from where we did in 2008 to now is fairly exciting . ”
