Archaeologists in Rome have of late discover a 1,900 - year - old home that would have belong to a Roman military commandant . It is located beside a barracks that housed R.C. soldier . The home has 14 rooms as well as the remains of a courtyard , fountains and pools . The home was find during a construction projection to expand Rome ’s Metro C lineage of their metro system . Geometric patterns

Excavations are on-going , but the cadaver of mosaic floors made with white marble and grey ticket have been let on in several of the elbow room . Many of the mosaics are decorated in a variety of geometrical motifs .

Some of the mosaics are bare mixes of white and grey , while others form much more elaborate patterns .

Deities fighting?

One of the few mosaics found in the air force officer ’s plate that has a non - geometric design . It appear to show two individuals ( deities possibly ) fighting .

On a perch

Another non - geometrical arial mosaic in the military commander ’s house , this one shows a bird perched on a subdivision .

Barely hanging on

archaeologist found the remains of plaster of Paris paintings hanging on the wall of the remains of the commander ’s house . picayune of the painting survive , although they appear to have incorporate orthogonal geometrical simulacrum .
