The British army has retreated – overKate Middleton!
The Princess of Wales, 42, who is recovering fromabdominal surgery,had been listedon the official army website as leading the annual review of soldiers at Horse Guards Parade in London on June 8.
It raised hopes that Kate would be back undertaking public duties following herabdominal surgeryat the annual event, which involves 1,400 soldiers and is a forerunner to theTrooping the Colourevent celebratingKing Charles' birthday parade the following weekend.
On Tuesday, however, her office at Kensington Palace said they hadn’t been consulted about her appearance, and Princess Kate’s namehas now been removedfrom the website, which is selling tickets to the event.

The Princess of Wales was initially listed as conducting the review on June 8 in her capacityas honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards. Number 9 Company of the Irish Guards is leading the parade this year, meaning Kate would traditionally conduct the Colonel’s Review the weekend before the event.
While planning for annual events such as Trooping is Colour continues at the palace, decisions about the King’s involvement will likely be made nearer the time. He has canceled most in-person duties and all of those involving large crowds as he undergoes his treatment.

Princess Kate is recuperating from her Jan. 16 surgery at home at Adelaide Cottage on the Windsor Castle estate. Her office has said she will not resume duties until after Easter, which falls on March 31.
To complicate matters, her childrenPrince George, 10,Princess Charlotte, 8, andPrince Louis, 5, are also on school vacation at that time, and Kate and William usually take time off to be with them, meaning she possibly won’t undertake anything public until mid-April.

On Jan. 17, Kensington Palace announced that Princess Kate’s surgery, which took place the previous day, had been “successful.”
“It is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” the statement added. “Based on the current medical advice, she is unlikely to return to public duties until after Easter.”

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate. She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,” the statement continued. “Kensington Palace will, therefore, only provide updates on Her Royal Highness’ progress when there is significant new information to share.”
Last week, a palace source told PEOPLE that Kate"continues to be doing well"amid her recovery from the surgery.
