Lisa Barlowis sharing an update about her son’s missionary work.
On part two ofThe Real Housewives of Salt Lake Cityseason 4 reunion, which aired Tuesday, the mom of two, 49, talked about her oldest’s preparations to head to his mission work.
When hostAndy Cohenasked why Jack was “recently seen in California,” Barlow explained he was getting his paperwork together to leave for Colombia.
“He bounced on his mission,” she joked, before continuing, “No, he’s going. He’s just hanging out with friends, surfing, doing all the good stuff.”
She then explained, “The way they put in their paperwork and the way they apply for visas, sometimes visas take a little longer.”

“It’s a very common practice,“Heather Gaychimed in. “You get your mission called to a foreign country, and the paperwork comes in a little later, but they don’t want you to wait. So they send you stateside.”
“They sent him to California temporarily [to practice] speaking Spanish,” Barlow explained. “The reason his visa took longer [is] because he has a great 6-pack and took a picture on the boat and sent it to the government as his visa picture, like, thinking it’s funny.”
“And they denied it. So he had to reapply,” she concluded.
Cohen was shocked to hear that the teen shared a shirtless photo, joking, “This has to be the first Mormon missionary whose visa was rejected due to, like …”
“Shirtlessness,” Gay offered.
“In his defense, he has been working out really hard,” Barlow, who is also mom to 13-year-old Henry, said.

At one point during the season, she said of her son’s decision, “I get so emotional, ‘cause I’m like, it’s such a big deal.”
Though Lisa was upset about her son being so far from home for two years, she was thrilled about his decision to put his faith into action and has supported the mission trip.
In an Instagram post, she sharedphotosfrom the announcement party and gushed about her older son and “the most amazing day” celebrating him.
“There is nothing better than watching your child make hard decisions and do things with impact. I loved celebrating you today,” she wrote in the caption. “I will miss you every second of every day but you are going to thrive. Grateful for so many people that have helped shape you. Today was one I will never forget. ♥️.”
