Diane Krugerhad her first child a little later in life — but she has no regrets.
TheWelcome to Marwenactress, 42, opened up about parenthoodin a cover storyfor the latest issue ofNet-A-Porter‘sPORTER Edit, explaining that she didn’t really consider the idea until her mid-30s.
“I didn’t think I wanted children for a long time. I was too selfish,” says Kruger, whowelcomed her first child, a daughter, with boyfriendNorman Reedusin the fall.

The pair, Kruger tellsPORTER Edit, spent Christmas with Christensen and Mingus, who live in the same neighborhood as Kruger and Reedus. They also had plans to all celebrate Reedus’ 50th birthday together this month.
“He teaches me a lot [about parenting], because he’s done it before,” she praises her partner. “There’s definitely something to be said for being with someone who is doing it for the second time.”

They promoted the film together at the Toronto International Film Festival beforegoing public with their romancein March 2017.

Kruger has been married once before — to French director and actorGuillaume Canet, whom she split from in 2006 after five years of marriage — and says she would consider it again at this juncture in her life.
“Never say never,” says theNational Treasureactress of tying the knot. “I would have a party. I’d like to wear a nice dress. But I’m notreligious, so that aspect of marriagedoesn’t mean anything to me.”
That being said, if Kruger marries again, it won’t have anything to do with money. “There’s obviously a financial security that comes with marriage, but I’m financially independent — I don’t need anyone for that,” she says.
